Brian Patto is an award-winning Australian director with over a decade of experience in high-end commercial and narrative filmmaking. He has helmed major campaigns for brands including ANZ, Coles, Specsavers, Nissan, NAB, Schweppes, Apple, Heinz, and the Australian Government. His commercial work includes large-scale productions such as a multimillion-dollar shoot in Dubai for GMC Trucks and the AFL 2024 Grand Final campaign.
Alongside his commercial career, Brian is known for emotionally charged short films that blend cinematic craft with human intimacy. His 2022 film Grace, a father-daughter war story set in Iraq, earned him Best Director at the London Director Awards, Best Foreign Film and Best Male Director at the Prague International Indie Film Festival, and Best War Short at the Calgary Independent Film Festival. It was also selected for a special screening for U.S. Congressional staff in 2021.
His 2023 short Miriam explores themes of teen resilience and sacrifice, while Snowblind (2022) ventures into psychological horror, revealing a family’s unraveling over one harrowing dinner. All three films have been praised for their emotional depth and visual intensity.
Brian’s work, whether for screen or brand, is defined by bold visuals, layered performances, and a fascination with human complexity. He is currently developing his debut feature.
